Math 752 — Berstein Seminar in Topology
Spring 2003
Instructor: Indira Chatterji
Time: MW 11:40-12:55
Room: MT 206
This course is a seminar in which students explore one or several related topics in topology. The students present the material to the rest of the class, with questions and discussions actively encouraged.
The direction I would like to follow this semester is geometric group theory, and more specifically possible topics include:
- Gromov hyperbolic groups
- Groups with property (T)
- CAT(0) groups
- a-(T)-menable groups
The choice of topics is ultimately up to the students who will present the material, and will be discussed in more details at the first class meeting.
