The Mandelbrot set is a beautiful fractal which arises in the study of simple dynamical systems. In this talk, we will explore some of the history, unanswered questions, and recent progresses about this set, paying special attention to the region “elephant valley” where the geometry resembles an infinite parade of elephants.
