MATH 7620: Seminar in Geometry: global and local rigidity, sphere arrangements (Spring 2011)
Instructor: Robert Connelly
We can go over some recent papers by Dylan Thurston, Schlomo Gortler, and Tibor Jordan and Bill Jackson on generic global rigidity as well as recent result of mine with Walter Whiteley. This has potential applications to protein folding, point location problems and many more.
We also can discuss some of the recent results about the Kneser-Poulsen problem concerning rearrangements of spherical disks and volume formulas.
