MATH 6490 - Lie Algebras

In this course, we will study the structure theory and classification of reductive linear algebraic groups over a general field. The theory of linear algebraic groups is important to many disciplines in mathematics. Specific applications will depend on the interests of the audience, but will likely include arithmetic groups and the construction of all non-sporadic finite simple groups.
