Simon A. Levin receives the National Medal of Science

The Department of Mathematics and the Center for Applied Mathematics congratulate Simon A. Levin for receiving the National Medal of Science. Simon A. Levin started his career in the Department of Mathematics in 1965. Following deep interests in ecology and the biological sciences he became a Professor of Applied Mathematics and Ecology (1977-1992) and the Charles A. Alexander Professor of Biological Sciences (1985 – 1992) before joining Princeton as the George Moffett Professor of Biology, Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Professor Levin is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a member of both the National Academy and the American Philosophical Society. He is a recipient of the 2005 Kyoto Prize for Basic Sciences. At this time, Simon A. Levin is an Adjunct Professor in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and a CAM Field Member.
