MATH 7350: Topics in the Representation Theory of Finite-Dimensional Algebras (spring 2009)

This course will be about the representation theory of finite-dimensional algebras over the complex numbers. After covering some generalities in the first week or two, we will explain how a large part of this theory can be reduced to the case of a quiver with relations. We will then study quivers, following some notes of Crawley-Boevey which are available online. We will then move onto some more advanced topics, as time permits.
There are no prerequisites, but it would be useful to be familiar with basic notions of homological algebra and affine algebraic geometry.
