MATH 6320 - Algebra
Shankar Sen, spring 2014.
MATH 6320 covers Galois theory, representation theory of finite groups, introduction to homological algebra. Familiarity with the material of a standard undergraduate course in abstract algebra will be assumed. (MATH 6310 is not strictly a prerequisite, though it may help to have taken it.)
The time spent will be roughly given by the ratios Galois theory : representation theory : homological algebra = 5 : 3 : 2, particularly in the case of homological algebra — this will be little more than an introduction.
