MATH 7870 - Set Theory

Justin Moore, spring 2015.

This course will begin with the basics of set theory: ordinals, cardinals, and the cumulative heirarchy. After some basic analysis of the axioms of ZFC, it will focus on the development of the theory of large cardinals. We will focus on the most fundamental large cardinal notions: inaccessible cardinals, measurable cardinals, and supercompact cardinals. More advanced topics will be covered as time permits. An attempt will be made to keep prerequisities for this course to a minimum. (Knowledge of MATH 6810 is not assumed.)
