MATH 7510: Berstein Seminar in Topology (fall 2008)

This semester we will focus on toric topology. I will begin the semester with a very quick (2-3 week) introduction to the area, and for the remainder of the semester, students will present papers on topics of their choice. The list of possible topics will include papers on

• equivariant cohomology,
• toric varieties (from the symplectic or algebraic perspective),
• hyperkahler and hypertoric varieties,
• toric degeneration.

If you have particular preferences for topics to include, please contact me by the end of the spring semester, and I will try to incorporate your suggestions.
