MATH 7510: Berstein Seminar in Topology: Arrangements (Fall 2010)
Instructor: Ed Swartz
Arrangements of subspaces and their complements have connections to topology, algebra and combinatorics. This Berstein seminar will begin with the classical theory of real and complex hyperplane arrangements including their characteristic polynomials, Orlik-Solomon algebras and the topology of arrangements and their complements. After this, whether the course follows a primarily topological, algebraic or combinatorial direction will be determined by the participants.
