MATH 732: Seminar in Algebra (Spring 2004)
Instructor: Dan Barbasch
Short course desacription: I aim to cover basic results about automorphic forms from the view point of representation theory of Lie groups.
Topics:
- Review of automorphic forms from the classical viewpoint
- Congruence subgroups and Hecke operators
- Repreesentation theory of GL(2, F) where F is a local field,
- Automorphic forms as representations of GL(2) over the adeles
- Decomposition of L2(G/\Gamma) and the Selberg trace formula
I will tailor these and further topics based on the interest and background of the audience.
